Book Description: Eccart, 2004. Hardcover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Signed by both authors to the title page in blue sharpie, also inscribed to the top of the page "To Robert + Barbra". 293 pages documenting Salvador Dali life, his art and his being. Dedicated by the authors "to Mynemsoyne, goddess of Memory and mother of the nine Muses". Red leather covers with gold title stamped to the front and spine and gold leaf to the page edges. A slight waviness to the foredge (could be the climate). Interior very clean and bright with no markings, writings, odors or blemishes. The unclipped dust jacket ($360) shows thumb wear to the top edge of the spine. Robert Descharnes was Dali's friend, photographer, secretary, biographer and collaborator on many projects for the last 35 plus years of his life. Chapters include; 1929-1949 The Discovery of Touch, The Desire for Space and Volume, 1950-1964 The World of Movement, The Metamorphoses, 1965-1989 The Apotheosis of Touch. Also includes a Biography, Index for Illustrations, Index of Names, Bibliography and principal Expositions. More than 700 images that are named and detailed. From a young age Salvador Dali showed a flare for art and specifically surrealism. In the 1930's after a masquerade party that caused a great uproar Dali apoligized for his costume and for that apoligy he was, by his surrealist group banned, and to that Dali retorted, "I myself am surrealism". An astounding collection of photos and images on all aspects of Dali's art. Paypal always welcome. We pack and ship all our books with care in cardboard boxes. Additional photos emailed upon request.
