Over the past two decades HIV/AIDS has played a catalyst role for the large numbers of orphaned children. Understanding double orphaned children's experience would have paramount significance to people in the helping profession. When psychologists and other helping professions want to understand in-depth experiences of people, they usually are conducting exploratory study. This exploratory work provides the lived psychosocial experiences of HIV orphaned children. Their experiences were explored in different care systems: children as head of the family, under extended family, and in the SOS children's Village. To enhance what the UN convention declares "the best interest of the child", children need to always know they have someone they can turn to and talk to. They want people to listen, understand and be there on a regular basis. They cannot live by bread alone, they need emotional support too.
