Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - Text teilw. dt., teilw. franz. In den Jahren 1901 bis 1916 stand Jeanne Charles Cerani dem Maler Ferdinand Hodler immer wieder Modell. Sie gelangte dadurch in den Besitz von über 200 Werken des Meisters. In zweiter Ehe war sie mit dem bosnischen Diplomaten Mehmed Cisic verheiratet, mit dem sie in die USA reiste, wo sie die erste Hodler-Ausstellung veranstaltete. 1955/56 starb das Ehepaar und hinterliess die Sammlung dem jugoslawischen Staat. Die kritische Beschäftigung mit der Sammlung von Jeanne Cerani-Cisic führte zu irritierenden Ergebnissen. In der Kriegs- und Nachkriegszeit in Jugoslawien lebend, geriet das Ehepaar in materielle Bedrängnis, und so dürfte Jeanne Cisic auf die Idee gekommen sein, viele der rund zweihundert Hodler-Zeichnungen aus ihrem Besitz im Hinblick auf allfällige Verkäufe durch eigenhändige Signaturen und Farbakzente «aufzuwerten». Dennoch vermag ihre Sammlung die Vorstellung vom Werk des bedeutendsten Schweizer Malers der Moderne zu bereichern und zu differenzieren. Zwei ausführliche Textbeiträge beschreiben die Lebensumstände von Jeanne Charles Cerani-Cisic und ihre Beziehung zu Ferdinand Hodler sowie Umfang und Besonderheiten ihrer Hodler-Sammlung.
