Book Description: Hatje Cantz, Germany, Yossi Milo Gallery, NYC, 2007. Hardcover. Book Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. LIMITED EDITION - SIGNED BY THE ARTIST. Interview by Nobuyoshi Araki: "Tiptoeing into the Darkness with Love". One of the most anticipated New York City photography exhibitions of the year is Kohei Yoshiyuki's show premiering photographs from his exciting new book "The Park" at the Yossi Milo Gallery. Originally published as "Document Kouen" in Japan in 1980, the highly praised first edition of this book now commands prices near $1,000. This new updated printing of this body of images contains all 60 images from the infamous "Park" Series, reproduced from new scans in deluxe duotones. Many of he images have not been seen on display since the 1970's, and have been known only to cult collectors until now. Kohei Yoshiyuki's nighttime photographs, taken with infrared film and flash in Japan's Shinjuku, Yoyogi and Aoyama Parks during the 1970's, capture the illicit sexual encounters, both heterosexual and homosexual, that frequently occurred there under the cloak of darkness. In "The Photobook: A History, Volume II", Martin Parr speaks to the social relevance of this series, calling it "A brilliant piece of social documentation, catching perfectly the loneliness, sadness and desperation that so often accompany sexual or human relationships in a big, hard metropolis like Tokyo." Only 100 copies of this book were available for signing by the Artist at the premiere of the Exhibition for this Project. As these books were advanced to accommodate the Exhibition, it is unclear if more copies will ever be signed by the Artist, making this copy quite valuable. The Exhibition was viewed by over 1,000 viewers - how fitting given the subject matter of the Work. This hardcover jacketed book is offered in AS NEW condition, and was purchased directly from the Gallery at the time just preceding the opening of the Exhibition. These books measure 12 x 9.75 inches, and contain 128 pages with 60 duotone images, plus the interview with Nobuyoshi Araki. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # TP-S-KYMG
