Leon Golub, born in 1922, is one of the leading postwar painters. Even in his earliest work, he rejected the formalism of Abstract Expressionism and countered it with an activist, political approach to figurative paining. As a member of the 'Monster Roster' group of artists, Golub insisted on the importance of content and has continued to address the subject of violence and oppression in his art. Also includes interviews with the artist.
