About the Author:
Kalyanmoy Deb is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. He obtained his PhD from the University of Alabama. His main research interests are in the area of computational optimization, modelling and design, and evolutionary algorithms. He is the recipient of the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in engineering sciences and the Thomson Citation Laureate Award. He has published more than 180 papers in international journals and has authored two textbooks. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and the Indian Academy of Sciences. Partha Chakroborty is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the IIT Kanpur. He obtained his PhD from the University of Delaware. His areas of interest include optimal design of transport systems and driver behaviour modelling. He has over 30 research papers in international journals and has authored one textbook. N. G. R. Iyengar retired recently as a professor of Aerospace Engineering from the IIT Kanpur. He obtained his PhD from the IIT Kanpur and has been a visiting professor at the University of Arizona, Tucson. His research interests include composite structures and optimization. He has over a hundred research papers in international journals and has authored four textbooks. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, Aeronautical Society of India, Institution of Engineers (I) and the Indian Association of Computational Mechanics. Santosh K. Gupta is a professor of Chemical Engineering at the IIT Kanpur. He obtained his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and has been a visiting professor at the University of Notre Dame, University of Wisconsin at Madison and the National University of Singapore. His research interests include simulation, multi-objective optimization and online optimal control of industrial processes in chemical engineering. He has over two hundred research papers in international journals and is the author of six textbooks. He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, India.
