'When did the world know about Auschwitz?' Is a frequent question - this book provides a partial answer to this controversial subject. The book "The Camp of Death" was first published December 1942 anonymously in occupied Warsaw. It was the first in-depth report on the history of the Nazi German Concentration Camp Auschwitz. The book was later published between 1943 and 1945 in eight languages. This publication is a reproduction of the original book, high quality scans - of its Polish and English versions showing what was known and the understanding at the time of the inner workings of the concentration camp. The author, Natalia Zarembina (1895-1973), journalist and writer, was the active during the Second World War in the underground resistance, the Polish Socialist Party (not Communist party), and the "Zegota" Council for Aid to Jews. She fled Poland after the War in 1946 because of the threat of arrest by Communist authorities. She returned to Poland in the late 1960s and died in Warsaw in 1973.
