Book Description b/w and color plates, ports., bio./chron., cat., color pict. endpapers, black cloth w/tipped in color plate on front board. A MAJOR study and documentation of the work of one of Brazil's most notable artists who emerged in the 1980s. Within the production of Ivo (b. Brazil, 1958) is an explicit defense of production, or the "making", and therefore, of the full technical command of painting. He feels he is a depository of this repertory, responsible for its continuity within his own work experience. The defense of painting by Ivo is a common characteristic among painters of his generation, who opposed those tendencies which increasingly proposed working methods alternative to painting. Different from historic abstractionism, Ivo re-elaborates repertories, motives and geometric visual patterns produced by cultures marginal to the scientifically accepted mathematical systems. An important reference for late 20th century art. ENGLISH, PORTUGUESE AND FRENCH TEXT. Seller Inventory # 88623
