Synopsis

Projections of the Consciousness presents 60 of Dr. Vieira's most varied and instructive out-of-body experiences (OBEs or astral projections) with candid realism. He relates events in non-physical communities, the profiles of which include: education; assistance in the transition of biological death; therapies for physical and non-physical dysfunctions; non-physical preparation for upcoming physical existence; non-physical preparation for physical motherhood.

His out-of-body encounters range from those involving assistance given to "earth-bound" non-physical consciousnesses (spirits) and extraphysical rescues, to attainment of a total expansion of consciousness (nirvana, cosmic consciousness) and transcendence of the space-time continuum. He also illustrates the dynamics of OBE as a function of being projected in different physical and non-physical dimensions and communities in varying conditions.

The author has been having lucid out-of-body experiences on a continuous basis since the age of 9. Projections of the Consciousness is a result of his projective prowess, the work of the extraphysical helpers, as well as a near-death experience he had in the early 1970s.

About the Author:

Born on April 12, 1932, in Monte Carmelo, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Waldo Vieira is a physician and dentist, and holds a post-graduate degree in plastic surgery earned in Japan. He has been having lucid Out-of-Body Experiences since the age of 9.

He has been an independent researcher of the consciousness and its manifestations outside the body for the past 30 years. He is the founder and president of the International Institute of Projectiology and Conscientiology.

Dr. Vieira is a long-standing member of the American Society for Psychical Research (ASPR) in New York, USA, the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) in London, England, the Brazilian Association of Parapsychology in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and others. He has assembled one of the largest libraries in the world on the subject of Consciousness Research.

From Introduction:

Experiences outside the dense body are facts, regardless of how each person explains them to him or herself. Separations from the body are experienced every day by men and women during natural sleep. Having lucid memories of extra-physical occurrences remains the most difficult, but surmountable, problem. [In order to develop your projective skills], it is necessary to discipline the memory and, above all, to sharpen one's mental concentration with a lot of willful determination, self-analysis and perseverance, by following techniques similar to those used here. After that, prepare yourself for deep renovation in all sectors of existence. Practical and descriptive, more objective than literary, this book is composed of technical accounts of more than sixty conscious disengagements from the body, selected from those that occurred during non-consecutive nights in the second half of 1979. Emphasis was given to those projections which offered greater evidence or clarification of multi-dimensionality. They ranged from the simple to the complex, from the brief to the more prolonged, from the nearby to those far away, from those of a cleansing nature to those of profound destiny, from those in which the psychosoma (astral body) was used to others in which only the mentalsoma (mental body) was utilized - aiming to reveal the anatomy of projection in all of its aspects, and trace the panoramic lines of exchange among the spheres of existence.

The satisfaction of relaxing once more in free flight, away from material limitations and the influence of gravity was marvelous, perhaps due to my fatigued state when I had gone to bed. The state of expansion, plenitude and freedom outside the soma brought me indescribable pleasure. How I wish at moments like these to contaminate others with this joy! I wish I could talk over every loud speaker, radio and television station to the whole world and tell them about this practical resource to achieve absolute inner peace that is within everyone's reach. I wish I could let all my friends and acquaintances feel this extraordinary condition of the expansion of the consciousness beyond dense matter!

From Chapter 38:

The assistance provided by evolved extraphysical consciousnesses can be felt from the noblest programs down to the most humble and apparently uncivilized human activities. Well intentioned human volunteers arduously work in all conceivable areas, and deserve assistance in order to minimize any setbacks they may suffer.

From Chapter 41:

The environment was brightly illuminated. I flew away profoundly happy. I began to feel a tranquil inner power and an indescribable sensation of non-physicality and lightness. I again experienced the euphoria of extraphysical life, which is incontestably superior to intraphysical existence. This experience leaves one with a feeling of being absolutely at peace with humanity and the entire universe. All of life's setbacks, pain, labors, emotions, aspirations, and efforts all but disappear in light of the multi-dimensional reality experienced while in the extraphysical dimension. Any human attempt to express this experience does not do it justice. I have noticed over the past few years, that even projections that last a few minutes stimulate the soma and protect one's physical health. Is this a consequence of extraphysical euphoria? Projection is not at all a mysterious process. It is within the reach of anyone, requiring only a certain degree of personal effort. The projector is able to lead a double life, going anywhere he or she pleases in the liberated psychosoma.
