Un vero e proprio viaggio nella storia della moda attraverso le tappe fondamentali della Salvatore Ferragamo Italia S.p.A., marchio di lusso, con oltre 450 negozi in più di 55 paesi. Nato a Bonito, in provincia di Avellino, Salvatore Ferragamo, dopo avere studiato l'arte del calzolaio a Napoli per un anno, aprì un piccolo negozio. Nel 1914, emigrò a Boston, dove uno dei suoi fratelli lavorava in una fabbrica. Dopo una breve permanenza in fabbrica, Salvatore convinse i suoi fratelli a trasferirsi in California, prima a Santa Barbara, poi a Hollywood. Qui aprì un negozio di scarpe, inizialmente solo per la riparazione e in seguito per la creazione di sandali su misura, che presto diventarono articoli apprezzati dalle star, grazie al suo talento. Arrivò così a progettare calzature per le produzioni cinematografiche di Hollywood, diventando presto così il "Calzolaio delle Star". Dopo tredici anni di attività negli Stati Uniti, ritornò in Italia nel 1927 e si stabilì a Firenze dove aprì la sua etichetta, concentrando i suoi sforzi sulla sperimentazione e brevettando numerosi modelli e innovazioni tecniche. Le sue creazioni spaziano dai modelli più bizzarri, spesso veri e propri oggetti d'arte di altissimo design, a linee di eleganza più tradizionale, che spesso servirono da ispirazione anche ad altri progettisti della calzatura del suo tempo.
