About the Author:
Rita John is Professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics, University of Madras, Chennai, India. She has over 22 years of teaching experience including teaching Solid State Physics to postgraduate students for over 15 years. She is also a Visiting Professor on Fulbright Fellowship at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas, USA (2014). Her area of research includes Computational/Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Band Gap Engineering, Quantum Confinements in Nanomaterials, Smart Materials for Biomedical and Space Applications. She has several publications in international peer-reviewed journals and other publications. Her publications are well cited in international journals. She has been an invited speaker and chair of technical sessions in many international conferences. In addition to collaborating with research centers in India, she also has international research collabora-tions. She has been guiding Ph.D., M.Phil., M.Sc., and M.Tech. projects. She is a member of administrative, academic, selection and research committees and a member of various international and national professional bodies. She is a recipient of various awards and prizes for her research contributions in areas related to Solid State Physics, including the Young Women Scientist Award.
