Your AbeBooks Statement Explained

AbeBooks monthly statements are generated on the first Friday of every month. The statement contains the monthly total of your gross payable sales, offset against the the monthly totals of commissions, payment service, and subscription fees charged. These are the monthly totals of gross sales, charges, fees, and payments already detailed in the weekly payment notifications of the prior month.  

Sample statement with explanatory notes:

18.22 Previous Balance  (This is the balance you owed to AbeBooks after the last Statement on September 5.)

-18.22 Paid to AbeBooks - Thank you. (Payment charged to the credit card on file brought the account balance to $0.00)

37.00 Subscription Fee: 10/2008 - 3812 books ** (Subscription fees are based on the average number of books online during the previous month.)

52.89 Commission fees since last statement *** (These are the commissions charged since September 5 - these have already been offset against sales in the payments created on September 12, 19, 26, and October 3.) 

4.50 Processing fees since last statement *** (These are the processing fees we charged on sales since September 5.  These were offset against sales in the payments created on September 12, 19, 26, and October 3.)

94.39 Total new charges (This is the total of subscription, commissions and processing fees applied to sales between September 5 and October 3. These have already been offset against payments created between those dates.)

-450.81 Payable on Sales *** (This is the total of sales before fees were offset.)

355.35 Paid by AbeBooks (This is the total amount we paid out in the payments created on September 12, 19, 26, and October 3.)

-1.07 Credits for commissions *** (This credit for a return was applied to the account balance.)

0.00 ACCOUNT BALANCE * (After sales from between September 5 and October 3 were offset against fees, and payments were made by EFT, the account has returned to a zero balance.)

Please keep in mind that you receive two types of notices from AbeBooks: payment notifications that are sent out every Friday, and monthly statements which are sent out on the first Friday of each month. The statements are summaries of the details included in each payment notification. Any fees owing to AbeBooks are included on your statement.
