Adjusting Your AbeBooks Shipping Matrix

AbeBooks is one of the few online marketplace that allows you to set your own shipping rates and speeds. You can update your Shipping Matrix to reflect your costs, or use your matrix as a promotional tool.

You can specify Standard and Priority shipping rates and speeds for all countries. These labels aren't meant to suggest that a bookseller use a particular method of shipping. Since all post offices around the world have different services available, and with different names, "priority" and "standard" are the general terms we use to describe faster/more expensive and slower/less expensive shipping options. Booksellers also have the option to use courier or other shipping services rather than their local post offices.

The average shipping weight is based upon a 2.2 lb (1 kg) package for the first item and 1.1 lb (0.5 kg) for each additional item.

To adjust your shipping rates and speeds:

1. [Sign On] to your AbeBooks account.

2. Click [Adjust Shipping Rates] under Your Account in the Quick Links section on the right hand side of the page.

3. Locate the countries for which you would like to adjust rates or speeds. Select your desired rates and speeds from the appropriate lists.

4. Click the [Save Changes] button.

International orders will have your generic "International" rate applied unless you add specific countries to your matrix.

To add a country to the shipping matrix:

The countries that AbeBooks has Websites in (Canada, the US, UK, France, Germany and Spain) cannot be removed from your matrix, but you can easily add more countries to offer customized rates.

1. [Sign On] to your AbeBooks account.

2. Click [Adjust Shipping Rates] in your Quick links menu.

3. Select a country from the list in the top-right corner of the Matrix.

4. Click the [Add to matrix] button.

5. Set your rates and speeds for that country.

6. Click the [Save Changes] button.

To remove a country from the shipping matrix:

The countries that AbeBooks has websites in, (Canada, the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy), cannot be removed from your matrix, but any countries that you have added yourself can be removed.

Important note: Removing a country from your Shipping Matrix does not prevent buyers from that country from ordering your books. The rates for removed countries will default to your International rates and speeds you are expected to ship all orders, regardless of 'ship-to' location.

1. [Sign On] to your AbeBooks account

2. Click [Adjust Shipping Rates] in your Quick Links menu.

3. Click the box to the left of the country you wish to remove. (A check mark will appear.)

4. When you've selected all of the countries you want to remove, click [Remove Selected Countries] button.
