Physical Address Requirement for North American Booksellers

Effective September 18, 2009, the National Automated Clearing House Association began requiring that a physical address be included in all cross-border electronic payment files for North American booksellers. The absence of a physical address in the file may cause the file to fail. In the event of such a failure, you will not receive your payment from AbeBooks. 

If you use a P.O. box as your AbeBooks account address, to be displayed online and/or provided to buyers in the event of a return, a physical address for payment purposes only must also be provided in your Bookseller Bank Information (For Deposits)screen.

Simply follow the instructions below:

1. Sign on to your AbeBooks account with your email address and password.

2. Click [My Banking Information] in the My Payments section of the Menu.

3. Scroll to the Physical Address section near the bottom of the page  4. If your AbeBooks account address is a P.O. box, please enter YOUR (not your bank's) physical address.

4. Enter your password in the 'Confirm AbeBooks Password' field. 

5. Click the [Add Bank Details] button.

This address will be used for your EFT file only and:

          -    will not be displayed online nor provided to your buyers;

          -    does not need to match your bank account address;

          -    does not need to match your AbeBooks account address.

If your AbeBooks account address is a P.O. box, or if it consists of a combination of a P.O. box and a physical address, you must also provide a physical address here.

Please note: The fields for your physical address are separate and distinct from your Bank Address. The fields are located at the bottom of the screen. If you are providing a physical address here, all fields must be populated. If you are already using a physical address as your AbeBooks account address, these fields may be left blank.
