Initiating a Return / Refund

 

Help processing AbeBooks Channel Program returns and refunds.

 

You can easily initiate a return or refund from your Members Menu. 

Please note: The same process can be used when you've accepted an order in error or when initiating a return or refund on behalf of a buyer.

Important: All refunds and returns must be processed through the AbeBooks system and all refunds must be provided to the buyer by the same payment method originally used to pay for the order. Any attempt to manipulate Return and/or Completion rates by issuing refunds outside the Abebooks system, and/or by a method other than the buyer's original payment method, is considered a serious violation of AbeBooks Policy.

To request a return or refund:

 

1. [Sign on] to your AbeBooks account with your email address and password.

2. Click [View and Process Orders] in the My Sales section of the Menu.

3. Enter the AbeBooks Purchase Order Number and click the [List Orders] button. 

4. Click [Request a Refund].

5. Select the return reason and enter your comments for the buyer.

6. Click [Initiate Return/Refund].

7. Select whether you'd like to process the refund right away or when you receive the book back from the buyer.

8. Select whether to refund return shipping to the buyer.

9. Click [Confirm] to confirm the return or [Edit Return/Refund] to make changes.

An email is sent to both you and the buyer as notification of an initiated return. Your account will be credited for your fees on the order as soon as the return is completed.
