Partial Refunds

You can easily initiate a partial return on an item if you'd like to refund the buyer either a portion of the book price, the shipping price, or both.

To issue a partial refund:

1. [Sign on] to your AbeBooks account.

2. Click [Process your Orders] from the Quick Links menu to access the Order List screen.

3. Click [Request a Refund] for the book that requires a refund. 

4. Select [Partial Refund] from the Return Reason drop-down list. You can also add comments for the refund.

5. Click the [Initiate Return/Refund] button. Enter the amount of the refund on the next screen.

6. Enter the amount of the refund into the appropriate field (either for shipping or book price or both).

7. Click [Complete Return/Refund]. A confirmation screen will appear, letting you know the refund has been completed.

Important Notes:

• The amount of a partial refund cannot exceed 75% of the book price.

• Since the minimum book price on AbeBooks is US $1.00, a partial refund cannot be issued on a book priced at US $1.00.

• Refund of shipping charge cannot exceed the original shipping charge (including extra or reduced prices).

• Commission and processing fees are not refunded for partial refunds.

• If a full refund is required after a partial refund has already been issued, please contact Customer Support for assistance.
