The Neo-American Church was founded in 1966 by psychologist Arthur Kleps. The church was modeled after the Native American Church which practiced peyotism, except that its clergy, known as the Boohoos, promoted LSD instead. In 1968 Judith H. Kuch, one of the church's ministers was arrested and tried on narcotics charges. The judge ruled against Kuch and the church, finding that the 'religion' was just an excuse to take hallucinogenic drugs. Bookseller Inventory # 5068
