Each print bears the name of the property and the owner in a scroll with the ownerand#8217;s coat-of -arms.Sir Robert Atkyns (1647 - 1711) was a topographer, antiquary and member of Parliament.Atkynswas born in 1647, and was baptised on 26 August of that year. He was the eldest son of SirRobert Atkyns, chief baron of theExchequer, and sometime speaker of theHouse of Lords.Thomas Atkyns, who died in London 1401, was succeeded in the fourth generation by David Atkins, an eminent merchant inChepstow, who removed before his death in 1552 toTuffley, nearGloucester. Tuffley continued to be the family seatuntil the purchase ofSapperton, Gloucestershire, by Baron Atkyns in 1660.He was educated atSt Edmund Hall, Oxford(admitted 1663), andLincoln's Inn(admitted 1661). He was called to the Bar in 1668 but did not practise.Overall size 430mmx 400mmwith hand colouring and will look fantastic once mounted and framed.CONDITIONOriginal antique print in excellent condition.
