About this Item

With approximately 15 pages of text & sums of money listed, all relating to the disbursement of funds to Margaret M. Herriman, who has signed each of the pages at bottom, monies from Wm. S. Herriman, who is identified on the first written leaf as 'Administrator'; in 1853 the payments are usually in 100 dollar increments, increasing in 1866 to monthly remittances of $ 400; the last leaf with entries and a total of 135275, including ".one hundred and thirty five 75/100 in Gold."; a few miscellaneous entries as well, one for funeral expenses of John F. Herriman and another for a furnace; with the booksellers ticket on front endpaper, "Sold By Wm. W. Rose, Stationer, Printer and Account Book Manufacturer 17 Wall St. Two Doors above Bond St. New York." Not noted in Spawn & Kinsella; Small account or copy-book; faintly-lined light blue pages interleaved with pink blotting paper in order to facilitate the copying process; approx. 3" x 8" size, oblong format; original full leather binding, leather spine label titled 'Receipts'; leather charred and chipped at front edges; spine ends chipped away; contents clean and in very good condition; interesting glimpse of fairly high financial transactions in a series in Brooklyn New York mid-19th century, probably from the Herriman estate.
