About this Item

From La Plante et ses applications ornementales. (Plants and Their Application to Ornament). Directed by Mr Eugène Grasset, this book was illustrated by nine artists and was produced "to show pratical example for the industry and a path to follow". It can be seen as an Art Nouveau manifesto, with Grasset introducing this book as a "merciless war against the imitation from the past". Sheet has been trimmed with margins that measure ¾ inch. Slight foxing at top left edge. About the Artist: Camille Gabriel Schlumberger was a French decorator and artist who studied at the Guérin school in Paris with Eugène Grasset. This poster measures 10.25x16.25".
