M. D'OUTREMORT ET AUTRES HISTOIRES SINGULIERES (Mr. Beyond Death and Other FantasticTales), by MAURICE RENARD. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by MAURICE RENARD on a blank prelim page: "A Monsieur Pierre Mortier / hommage empressé / Maurice Renard". Published by Societe Des Editions "LOUIS-MICHAUD", 168 boulevard St.-Germain, PARIS. Undated but bibliographically known to be 1913. Softcover Book BOUND INTO Hardcovers. The book including its original covers are bound in completely, both the front and rear covers are present, and the spine covering is present and still attached to the rear cover (it looks like a partial page, but look closely - it is the spine covering!) Text in French. Beautiful and Professionally made Hardcovers, cloth covered spine and marbled paper covered boards, leather title label on the spine, gilt design on the spine, three blank prelim and three blank end papers were added before and after the bound in softcover book, 5" x 7.5", 277 pages + table-of-contents + an ad for LE PERIL BLEU by Maurice Renard, at the end. Condition: The Hardcovers are lovely - just some sunning / toning to the spine; there is a bit of foxing to the added blank prelim and end papers; the wrappers / covers of the bound in book are bright and solid, just a big of edgewear; there is some light foxing to the first and last few pages of the inner book, otherwise it is complete, tight, bright, clean and unmarked. A beautiful, solid, well-protected copy. M. D'OUTREMORT is one of MAURICE RENARD'S most difficult books to find. Especially so SIGNED and INSCRIBED. You can read a lot about MAURICE RENARD on his Wikipedia page; here is a snippet: ******Maurice Renard (1875 - 1939) was a French writer of fantastic fiction. He was the author of the archetypal mad scientist novel Le Docteur Lerne - Sous-Dieu [Dr. Lerne - Undergod] (1908), which he dedicated to H. G. Wells. In it, a Doctor Moreau-like mad scientist performs organ transplants not between men and animals, but also between plants and even machines.******. Bookseller Inventory # 000262
