Two page handwritten letter, by HIROKO TANABE to MRS. SEDGWICK (wife of Ellery Sedgwick 1872-1960). Written in blue-ink on the front side of two sheets of onion skin paper. Dated Dec. 22, 1963. Letter informs Mrs. Sedgwick of the death of her, Hiroko Tanabe's, husband last month. Letter is full of close friendship, with Hiroko looking forward to seeing Mrs. Sedgwick in Japan again soon. There is a full paragraph that reads: "As you said, the loss of your good President is a stunning tragedy, not only to your people, but to the whole world, and I hope with you that your people will turn the loss into a blessing by carrying out many of his plans and endeavors." GOOD condition, folds from where the pages were folded to fit into an envelope ( no envelope present), writing is bright and clear. Bookseller Inventory # 000163
