Publication Date: 1983

Binding: Soft cover

Description:

FIRESTARTER. Original FINAL DRAFT SCREENPLAY by STANLEY MANN, based on the NOVEL by STEPHEN KING. The Screenplay is dated April 4, 1983, the film was released on May 11, 1984. Bound in blue card covers with metal brackets, the front cover has the printed label of DINO DE LAURENTIIS CORPORATION on which is typed: FIRESTARTER by STANLEY MANN / April 4, 1983. The script pages are photocopied on plain white paper (copy machine copies were, and still are, common among production and working scripts; drafts could be quickly made and sent to the film's writers, producers, directors, etc.), 8.5x11 inches, pages are 3-hole punched, 126 pages, pages printed on one side only. Bill Lancaster, who wrote the screenplay for John Carpenter's THE THING, was as originally hired by De Laurentiis to write the script for Firestarter, which was also to be directed by John Carpenter. However, due to poor box office returns of The Thing, both Bill Lancaster and John Carpenter were dropped from the project. At that point De Laurentiis hired Mark Lester to direct and Stanley Mann to write the screenplay. This Stanley Mann screenplay is called the Final Draft, however the film was released over a year later, so the screenplay probably had additional revisions before the final, final draft. VERY GOOD condition, the pages have some dust marks, light smudges, and some toner marks, all typical are typical of copy machines of the 1980s, the De Laurentiis Corporation cover label is shelf rubbed, otherwise just light signs of handling and use. Hard-to-Find Stanley Mann Firestarter Screenplay, with Dino De Laurentiis provenance. About FIRESTARTER the Film (from Wikipedia): ******Firestarter is a 1984 American science fiction thriller film based on the 1980 novel by Stephen King.
