Description:

Glasgow, 1st ed., 1976. Xii + 164 pp. D.j., 22 x 15cm. FINE. When the British first entered Korea in mid-1950 they were adding another to the list of countries where they had fought with distinction. The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and the Middlesex Regiments were soon followed by many glorious names ; the King's Own Scottish Borderers, the Royal Ulster Rifles, the Black Watch, the King's Regiment, the Duke of Wellington's Regiment, the 8th Hussars and a Regiment which was to distinguish itself at the Battle of the Imjin River, the 'Glorious Glosters'. In captivity the prisoners from the Imjin and from the Ulsters tragic battle of the 3rd January 1951, proved remarkably resilient. Many decorations were earned for outstanding conduct whilst a prisoner of war. At the conclusion of the Korean War, the border remained virtually unchanged and thousands had been killed and wounded in the cause of Freedom. This is a small tribute to those men.
