McCowat-Mercer Press, Inc., TN. Considered as one of the best personal narratives by a Confederate officer. Nisbet commanded a company in the 21st Georgia Infantry Regiment, in the Army of Northern Virginia. The 21st Georgia first saw combat under Stonewall Jackson at Winchester in May 1862 then fought in the Seven Days battles, Second Manassas, where Nisbet and his men after exhausting their ammunition beat off the Federals with gun butts and rocks, Antietam and Fredericksburg. Nisbet later raised the 66th Georgia Infantry Regiment and led it through the Atlanta Campaign where he was eventually captured and spent the rest of the war as a POW in Johnson’s Island. An ‘In Tall Cotton’ title. Originally printed in 1914, this edition is edited by Bell Irvin Wiley. This copy is signed by Wiley on the inside front cover.
