The original unit history, not a reprint. This unit appears to have been primarily ferrying bombers to the Pacific but was handling smaller aircraft as well. Lots of male personel but always a desirable unit history because of the inclusion of the Women's Army Service Pilots (WASP) contingent (not to mention WACs and Army Nurses). Covers the HQ Squadron 6th Ferrying Group, WASP Operations, 348th Air Base Squadron, 1st, 9th, 14th, 28th, and 52nd Ferrying Sqadrons, 844th Guard Sqd., 644th AAF Band, 1st Airways Communication Sqd., Weather Section, 866th Signal Service Company, 914th Quartermaster Company, and Station Hospital. Hard cover with embossed eagle and Air Transport Command insignia, 139 pages, illustrated endpapers, thousands of photos. Includes 35 pages covering the history of the Army Air Forces (with photos of 37 Generals of the AAF) and the ATC, 25 pages of facilities and activities at the Long Beach air field. Cover condition is good to very good with edge/corner/surface wear, a small spot of something red along the outer edge, and a bumped lower corners. The pages are clean, with no marks or tears, but the lower corners do have a slight wave from the bumped cover. Overall, sound and above average condition as W.W.II unit histories go.
