7 letters written to Herbert Foster Gunnison (1858-1932), writer for the Brooklyn Eagle and author of several books : Letter 1 - Handwritten, 1 page, 10 1/2 x 7 paper folded in half, from a Mr. Bacheller, no date, "1804 Hinman Avenue, Evanston, Illinois" printed at top. The writer gives Mr. Gunnison instructions to send the manuscript to Irving at Riverside. At the bottom is a note by Mr. Gunnison in pencil. Letter 2 - Typewritten, 1 page, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, fold lines, dated September 27, 1906 autographed by Clark Howell, editor of the Constitution, Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Howell acknowledges receipt of Mr. Gunnison's letter in reference to Mr. Edward Lent's latest book, and Mr. Howell would be pleased to see it given good reviews in their columns. Constitution letterhead. Letter 3 - Typewritten, one page, 6 x 9 inches, fold lines, dated April 2, 1908 to Rose F. Gunnison autographed by G. Stanley Hall, President of Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Mr. Hall is responding to Ms. Gunnison's request for autograph copies of his book. He say he has no copies on hand and refers her to his publisher. He says he would be willing enough to add the autograph. G. Stanley Hall (1844-1924) was a pioneering American psychologist and educator, and was the first President of the American Psychological Association. Clark University letterhead. Letter 4 - Typewritten, 1 page, 5 x 8 inches, dated February 1, 1913, a short note autographed by Talcott Williams (1849-1928), director of the Columbia University School of Journalism. Letter 5 - Typewritten, one page, 8 x 10 1/2 inches, autographed by Henry L. Stoddard, editor of the Evening Mail in New York, accepting a dinner invitation. Columbia University letterhead. Letter 6 - Typewritten, one page, 8 x 11 inches, dated February 23, 1897, on New York Sun letterhead, fold lines, small tears and chipping, autographed by Chester S. Lord (1850-1933), editor of the New York Sun. Mr. Lord asks for details about a dinner Mr. Gunnison is hosting, and thanks Mr. Gunnison for his assistance on a dinner Mr. Lord hosted a week ago. Letter 7 - Handwritten, one page, 8 1/2 x 11, dated November 7, 1908, autographed by H. J. Wright, editor of the New York Globe, accepting a dinner invitation. New York Globe letterhead.
