Royal 8vo 10" x 6¼ " [25.4cm x 15.8cm] approx. 192 pp. Very pale green cloth boards with emerald green inlaid spine panel and silver titles, clean and clear. Modicum of wear at the spine ends and corners gently knocked. Attractive paste down plate of the Chitson family to front free endpaper. Rear free endpaper is a little scuffed. Double width title page illustrated by Carolyn Dinan and many other duotone and full colour illustrations decorate the text. See seller images for list of fairy stories retold by Helen Cresswell. Dust wrapper is clipped and has some minor wear at the spine ends and corners. Jacket has previously been attached to a protective sleeve by the publisher so has some residue. This is nevertheless a charming volume. The dust jacket will be protected with a new inert archival sleeve which is removable. Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Dinan, Carolyn (illustrator). First Edition. Front corners a little bumped. Slight browning to page edges but pages otherwise clean and unmarked. The jacket looks Very Good but it is in a plastic cover and this has been glued to the reverse of the jacket along the top and bottom edges. It may be possible to remove the plastic cover from the jacket without doing very much damage but it is nicely protected and looks OK so I have left well alone.
