In 1941 Major Baird sailed for Hong Kong. He was a veteran of WWI and as a kid had fought a Vimy Ridge. The job of the troops was to defend Hong Kong against the Japanese. The letters of this book were to his daughter from the Japanese prison camp where he and others were held.
