Synopsis
The main feature on each cardstock plate of Eagle's 100 Shrubs & Climbers of New Zealand is painted in natural size. In nearly every case, the flower and fruit have been shown, and all have been painted in color from fresh specimens.
Most of the common New Zealand shrubs are included but, as this country is particularly blessed in the variety and number of shrubs, others have had to be left out. Where a genus is comprised of a large number of species, a representative number of species have been shown. Some of these genera are Hebe with some ninety species, Coprosma with over fifty-five, and Dracophyllum with thirty-five. Olearia, Pimelea and Senecio also have large numbers of species. Also inlcuded are maps, botanical notes covering the 100 plants, as well as glossary, index and bibliography.
The paintings and notes were first published in 1975 in Eagle's Trees and Shrubs of New Zealand, which was since published in two books instead of one.
