(This is the First Edition second state of which only 500 copies were printed - it is distinguished principally from the first state by being a few mm. shorter and is bound in pea-green "Linson" embossed paper-cloth rather than dark green buckram). A few small marks to boards. Foxing to text block especially top edge. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly faded to spine (as is usual with this series). Packaged with care and promptly dispatched! THE NEW NATURALIST 71 A VERY GOOD COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION.FIRST STATE. 432pp., colour illustrated, green cloth, gilt lettering, dust jacket unclipped and unusually spine is not faded. Collins published simultaneously a hardback and paperback edition with 725 copies in hardback and 9600 in paperback. They badly underestimated the demand for the hardback edition which quickly sold out. When they realised their mistake they decided to rebind 500 of the paperbacks.
