For Colman, a ``late bloomer'' is any one who, at any adult age, makes a sig nificant and successful change in his or her life. The stories of 40 such persons are given here along with the author's own thinking on the importance of change and why change does or doesn't occur in people's lives. Late Bloomers may not be the best title for this book; some of the people Colman talks about have bloomed early, and some actually have bloomed more than once. The author often seems overly optimistic with regard to the possibility of change and too cavalier in assuming that any change, as long as it's some how successful, is right and good. But for anyone who needs to change or is contemplating a change in life or career this book offers a good pep talk. John Moryl, Yeshiva Univ. Lib., New York
