Reviews

PreSchool-Grade 1 An active preschooler is excited about visiting her grandmother. In a simple yet catchy rhyme, Carlstrom describes the little girl's preparations, including packing her bag with an abundance of essential items. As the final few items are put in the car, her mother chides her, ``You brought everything/ But the moon.'' That night, at her grandmother's, the girl notices, ``the moon came, too.'' The ink and watercolor illustrations are delightful and full of entertaining details; these pictures serve to extend the text. The depiction of Grandma, with white hair in a bun, wearing an apron over a frumpy dress, and clad in orthopedic shoes, might appear stereotypical to some adults, but aside from this, The Moon Came Too is a charming book depicting the believable behavior of a preschooler.
