From School Library Journal:

Grade 1-3 Jessica shares a city apartment with her parents and younger twin siblingsordinary chaos is her mother's description of life with a pair of lively toddlers. Meanwhile, Jessica's friend Jason lives downstairs with his parents in a quiet, neat, organized apartment. Jessica wants some peace and quiet, but Jason wants more action in his life, so they plan a mommy exchangean experimental weekend to start, but ultimately they're ``talking for keeps.'' On the appointed Friday evening Jason and Jessica trade places. Predictably, they begin to notice the drawbacks as well as the advantages to the exchange immediately. By Saturday morning Jason is back on his own doorstep in his pajamas, looking for some peace and quiet, and Jessica is happy to go back to her own family. This is familiar territoryMartha Alexander, Judith Viorst, Anna Grossnickle Hines, and others have written many similar books on contemporary children and their everyday problemsand this does not add much to the list. Jessica narrates the story, and while her voice adds to the authenticity, the text is difficult to read aloud smoothly. The large, colorful illustrations depict familiar, contemporary urban surroundings. Susan L. Rogers, Plymouth Meeting Friends School, Pa.

From Publishers Weekly:

A sweet, funny look at the world of young children begins because friends Jessica and Jason are dissatisfied with their homes and families. At Jessica's they have spaghetti once a week, and it's green and curly so her twin-toddler siblings (noisy pests!) can eat it easily. Jason, on the other hand, complains that it's too neat, too quiet and downright boring at his house. One day the two decide to move into each other's home for the weekend. After a single night, Jessica and Jason discover that their respective families aren't really so bad after all. Hest (The Purple Coat) has wonderfully captured the humor of a preschooler's day. DiSalvo-Ryan's soft pencil and watercolor illustrations perfectly match the text, capturing the mood and tone of the story with wry wit. Ages 4-7.
