Jason and Tommy follow a monarch butterfly on its migratory flight from the northern United States to Mexico
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
PreSchool-Grade 2-With nothing to do, two boys decide to follow a monarch butterfly. It flies across their town, over a park, through New York State, across Washington D.C., along the Gulf of Mexico, and into Mexico where it finally lands in a fir tree on a mountainside joining millions of others-home at last. Although written in story form, this book is an effective introduction to the migrating habits of the monarch. Told as a fantasy (the boys are able to travel by bicycle, boat, plane, and donkey and still keep up), the journey of the butterfly itself is based on fact. The watercolor illustrations are very basic and stylized, yet the many shades of orange vividly stand out. Additional information about monarchs is appended.
