Grade 1-3 Sara and her mother plan to spend a special day togethera day for only the two of them. Sara's sister stays with Aunt Claire, who arrives just as Sara and her mom head for a picnic at Dolphin Bay. But Aunt Claire asks that as a favor they check in on Aunt Claire's elderly friend, Mrs. Ivey, who has a broken ankle. Sara comes to enjoy the time she spends with Mrs. Ivey and is eager to tell her sister about her visit. The low-key story tells of some special moments shared between mother and daughter. While there are some buoyant moments, it remains basically sedate. Gray pencil illustrations portray the realistic characters adequately and the cozy comfortable mood of the text. A pleasant but additional story for early elementary school-aged children. Susan Nemeth McCarthy, Arlington County Public Library, Va.
