About the Author

About the Authors John S. Bowman has been a freelance writer and editor for more than 35 years. He specializes in nonfiction ranging from archaeology to zoology, baseball to biography. He first visited Greece in 1956 and has traveled and lived there over the years. He is the author of numerous guides to regions of Greece and is best known for his Traveller's Guide to Greece. He currently resides and works in Northampton, Massachusetts. Fran Wenograd Golden is cruise editor at Travel Weekly, the travel trade newspaper, and is also author of The Complete Idiot's Travel Guide to Cruise Vacations, Frommer's Alaska Cruises (coauthored with Jerry Brown), and TVacations (Simon & Schuster, 1996). She lives north of Boston with her husband, Ed, and their two kids. Sherry Marker majored in classical Greek at Harvard, studied archaeology at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, and did graduate work in ancient history at the University of California at Berkeley. The author of a number of guides to Greece, she has also written for the New York Times, Travel & Leisure, and Hampshire Life. When not in Greece she lives in Massachusetts, where she teaches a writing seminar at Smith College. Mark Meagher has passed many fine days exploring the Greek Islands in search of the perfect beach, the most venerable ruin, and the ideal supper. A resident of Boston, he is currently pursuing graduate studies in architecture. Meagher is Professor of Humanities at Hampshire College, Amherst, Massachusetts, where he teaches ancient East Mediterranean history, literature, and religion.
