Review:

There is a saying among golfers that if a man cheats in life, he may or may not cheat on the golf course, but if he cheats on the course, it's a gimme that he cheats everywhere. It thus behooves us to check into the golfing etiquette--or lack thereof--of the gentlemen elected to lead the United States, which is precisely what Shepherd Campbell and Peter Landau have done. With the exception of Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, and Jimmy Carter, every president since William Taft has at least taken a shot at the game, and the way they've approached it reveals much about their character, competence, and ability to maintain a semblance of grace under pressure.

About the Author:

Shepherd Campbell is a vice president at Golf Digest/Tennis, Inc. Peter Landau, is a longtime golfer and collector of golf literature, is the historian of the St. Andrew's Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
