About the Author
Capt. William J. Ruhe, USN (Retired.), received three Silver Stars for his WWII performance and commanded vessels in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He edited the Submarine Review and was a technical adviser to Tom Clancy. He lives in suburban Washington, D.C.
