Synopsis
They met at the Stork Club one summer night in 1944 - she, the left-wing Katie Morosky, and the man she had known at college, Navy Lieutenant Hubbell Gardiner, the boy voted most likely to succeed.
Their meeting led them - improbably to her mind - to marriage. She became the sort of girl she despised, playing tennis, going to parties, and yet she loved Hubbell more than ever. But it was not long before the old Katie resurfaced.
