The ability to communicate well is central to career success; these two books, by authors who have taught and consulted on business writing, offer help in improving that skill. Andersen's book, more discursive and informal, will appeal to students as well as working folk. His "prewriting-freewriting-rewriting" formula should help faltering authors learn to express their ideas, and he includes substantial sections on style, mechanics, and business writing. Piotrowki's book, drawn from the best of her monthly newsletter, Re: Writing , is somewhat briefer and treats the important topics in a no-nonsense manner. A glossary, punctuation review, and reading suggestions are included. While both are acceptable, Andersen's seems the better buy for general libraries.
