He makes a kite, inspiring the others to do so, and before long the hotel is bursting at the seams with kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and kites of all shapes and sizes. The illustrations, composed principally of tissue paper, sketchy charcoal figures, fabric, and feathers, complement the story with their looseness and jaunty eye-catching sophistication.
