There's never been anyone quite like Annie Bananie. So when she has to move away, her playmate cannot believe it -- until she realizes that even far apart, they can still be best friends.

Leah Komaiko is the author of several popular rhyming books for children including Annie Bananie, a Children's Choice Award winner, and I Like the Music, a Reading Rainbow Review Book. She lives in Los Angeles, CA.
Laura Cornell is the illustrator of Jamie Lee Curtis’s When I Was Little: A Four-Year-Old’s Memoir of Her Youth and Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born, as well as Annie Bananie by Leah Komaiko. Born and raised in California, she lives in New York City with her happy daughter, Lilly, and their two cats. Laura has closet moods.
Kindergarten-Grade 4 Annie Bananie is moving from the old neighborhood, and there's no doubt she'll be missed. The camaraderie between two girls, about fearless five in age, is delightfully illustrated in bright watercolor and rhyme. A pal who ``made me brush my teeth with mud,/ Sign my name in cockroach blood'' is not found every day. The narrator gives as good as she gets. She recalls scrubbing the freckles off red-headed Annie's face, doctoring her with a ``magic'' potion to shrink her ears, and other horrifically endearing acts of best friends. The story charges forward in couplets that bounce up and down like a kindergarten line on the way to the playground. A daffy, energetic, and heartfelt celebration of friendship.
