One winter day the rabbit children build the biggest snow rabbit in the world, making it tall enough to be seen by their brother who is inside with a bad cold

PreSchool-Grade 1-- After a heavy snowfall, four rabbit children spend the day constructing a giant snow bunny while their brother, inside with a cold, watches from the window. They avoid the problem of lifting one huge ball of snow onto another by making their sculpture on its back; they scare away a bully; they sit down to a pleasant supper. Komoda's white rabbits are fluffy and cheerful, and her use of bright colors and simple shapes makes the book appropriate for sharing with small groups. Although it cannot compete with such classics as Keats's The Snowy Day (Viking, 1962) or Burton's Katy and the Big Snow (Houghton, 1973), this modest tale might supplement collections in areas where winters are long and demand for such seasonal stories is high. --Kathy Piehl, Mankato State University, MN
