Being a creature teacher isn't easy. The classroom needs to be kept spotlessly grim, spooky spelling tests must be given, and, of course, fire-breathing classroom pets must be kept in line! But at the end of the day, little critter students learn to appreciate their own creature teacher.
Laura Leuck and Scott Nash team up once again, this time turning the classroom into a somewhat familiar place of tickling laughs and howling fun.

Laura Leuck is the author of these other books for children: Goodnight, Baby Monster; My Monster Mama Loves Me So; Sun is Falling, Night is Calling; My Baby Brother Has Ten Tiny Toes; and Teeny, Tiny Mouse. Ms. Leuck lives in Princeton, New Jersey, with her husband, Art, and their two sons, Matthew and Shane. From School Library Journal:
Kindergarten-Grade 2–"My creature teacher's strict and stern–/she growls so I will wait my turn./If we want to howl or shriek/we MUST put up our paws to speak." As she did in My Monster Mama Loves Me (HarperCollins, 1999), Leuck creates a world populated by a variety of beasts with green skin, single eyeballs, and bizarre body proportions who prefer all things macabre and creepy. In tightly rhymed text, a young narrator describes how his teacher drapes the classroom with poison ivy and thorns, lets the children play in the rotten apple trees and slime at recess, and sees them safely onto the "ghoul school bus." Some of the activities can only be described as gross, as the youngster writes with a blood-filled pen and trades his "handwich" for mice on a bun at "crunch time." Nash's young monsters are a weird combination of funny and frightening, which is an exact match for the narrative. While not as graphically disgusting as David Greenberg's Slugs! (Little, Brown, 1983), this title will appeal to an audience with similar taste.–Grace Oliff, Ann Blanche Smith School, Hillsdale, NJ
