Back to school with Cat and Mouse.
Mouse is all set for his first day in Mr. Monkey's classroom. Cat took him shopping, and now he has new clothes, a new book bag, and even new shoes. Mouse is very excited -- and a little nervous, too. He is very glad that his good friend, Cat, will be going to school with him.
But when Cat sees all her friends from last year, she leaves Mouse all by himself to face his first day of school. Now Mouse must be very brave and meet his new classmates, his new teacher, and even the lunch lady in his new school.

Jiwon Oh was born and raised in Korea. After studying graphic design and literature, Ms. Oh came to New York. In 2001, she received a master's of fine arts in illustration from the School of Visual Arts. Ms. Oh lives in New York City. Cat & Mouse: A Delicious Tale was her first book; this is her second. From Booklist:
K-Gr. 2. This follow-up to Cat and Mouse: A Delicious Tale (2003) is somewhat misleadingly titled; it's mostly about what happens outside Mr. Monkey's classroom as Cat and Mouse discover that their one-year age difference creates tension between them at school. As Mouse's first day of grade school approaches, older Cat helps him to choose school supplies and stylish new clothes. But once they arrive, Cat is swept up in the excitement and leaves his less-confident friend on his own. Tears are shed in the cafeteria, where Mouse feels abandoned and overwhelmed, and the blowup reminds Cat to pay closer attention to his buddy. Once children absorb the story's compassionate message, they'll want to revisit the merry digital collages. Kids weaned on television anime will respond instantly to Korean artist Oh's smiling flowers, bright toadstools, and tongue-in-cheek Asian iconography (the school is in a pastel-hued pagoda, and the playground boasts a carp pond). They will also like the whimsical animal characters--particularly Cat, who bears a marked resemblance to Hello Kitty. Jennifer Mattson
