9780060608514: Life Together

After his martyrdom at the hands of the Gestapo in 1945, Dietrich Bonhoeffer continued his witness in the hearts of Christians around the world. His Letters and Papers from Prison became a prized testimony to Christian faith and courage, read by thousands. Now in Life Together we have Pastor Bonhoeffer's experience of Christian community. This story of a unique fellowship in an underground SEMInary during the Nazi years reads like one of Paul's letters. It gives practical advice on how life together in Christ can be sustained in families and groups. The role of personal prayer, worship in common, everyday work, and Christian service is treated in simple, almost biblical, words. Life Together is bread for all who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship.

About the Author:

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) has captured the imagination of people everywhere through his life and books, including Life Together and Letters and Papers from Prison. He was imprisoned by the Nazis and executed by them in 1945 for his stalwart resistance to Hitler.

From AudioFile:

Paul Michael does a credible rendition of this inspirational audiobook. His measured tones and distinctive voice make it an easy listen. Bonhoeffer, martyred in Nazi Germany in 1945, and a hero to many, is often compared to the Apostle Paul. He spent years in prison for his faith and eventually lost his life. This writing simply describes what he sees as the elements of Christian faith and practice. Aspects that are often taken for granted, such as prayer, scripture reading, praise, and family life, are set forth in a practical message from the prison cell. Bonhoeffers thoughts combine with Michaels narration to make worthwhile listening. N.L. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
