Book Description

Why settle down when you can hook up?

"Happily married people and perpetually single people are similar: We've both given up on dating and have merely chosen different exit strategies."

So begins Aaron Karo's hilarious exploration of bachelor life, from the alcohol-fueled pursuit of chicks in bars to sophisticated advances on defenseless bridesmaids. As his thirtieth birthday approaches, Karo observes the women around him growing increasingly desperate to tie the knot and finds himself equally determined—to remain uncommitted. What follows is an outrageous account of one man's quest to party like a rock star, get laid with abandon, and silence his critics in relationships with the rebuke "I'm having more fun than you." Irreverent, insightful, and relentlessly funny, Karo offers a unique glimpse into the world of guys who defy convention, morality, and their moms in order to preserve their independence.

Warning! Not Intended for Married People: A Message from Aaron Karo

Dear Married Person:

Perhaps you clicked on my book by accident. You were trying to go to Crate & Barrel and ended up at Amazon. Or, maybe, one of your single friends is playing a prank on you. Either way, you don’t belong here. My book is not for you. Kindly scram.

Now don’t get me wrong, Married Person, I don’t have anything against you personally. I have a lot of married friends. Even my parents are married. It’s just that I wrote I’m Having More Fun Than You as a tribute to the hard-working single men and women who hit the bars night in and night out. The kind of people who would leave their best friend in the middle of nowhere just to pursue the possibility of getting laid. The kind of people who have their priorities straight. In other words, heroes.

You see, I’m Having More Fun Than You is a collection of humorous anecdotes and observations about dating and relationships recorded as I neared my thirtieth birthday. It was a trying time – during which I saw my buddies succumb one by one to ballroom dancing lessons and picking out place cards. But along the way I learned many valuable lessons about women (and myself) that you would never understand. Me and you, we’re just very different. Namely because you’re married and I’m still human.

There is a chance, however, that you have arrived at this page merely to purchase a gift – likely for a single friend on whom you and your significant other take pity. If this is the case, please resist the urge to flip through my book before handing it over. My tales of drinking and debauchery may not sit well with someone who’s been out of the game as long as you have. You will discover that while you were settling down, I was hooking up; while you were solemnly walking down the aisle, I was proudly doing the walk of shame. Soon you’ll realize that this whole time your single friend has been the one taking pity on you.

So, Married Person, I have said my peace. Now please leave. I suggest you peruse Amazon’s tremendous selection of baby monitors and lawn care equipment ideal for those who have given up on fun. This book, on the other hand, is strictly for those for whom the party has just begun.

Warm Regards,

Aaron Karo
