John Langan has taught reading and writing at Atlantic Community College near Atlantic City, New Jersey, for over twenty years. The author of a popular series of college textbooks on both subjects, he enjoys the challenge of developing materials that teach skills in an especially clear and lively way. Before teaching, he earned advanced degrees in writing at Rutgers University and in reading at Glassboro State College. He also spent a year writing fiction.
Sharon Winstanley, author and co-author of numerous textbooks, teaches at Seneca College and York University. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Toronto, and then enjoyed a first career in retail and marketing management. After returning sporadically to university to study Italian, Greek, Marketing, and Financial Management, she decided on a career-change. Twenty-odd years of teaching later, she’s still happy about that change.
For over two decades, Sharon has created and taught courses in writing, film, design and layout, and elective courses ranging from studies in horror fiction to twentieth-century popular music. Preferring the classroom to administration, she still enjoys what first appealed to her about teaching—her students.
