Consensus building simulations have been widely used in team building for over 20 years by facilitators and team trainers. The formula is always the same: each individual in the team writes down their best answers for coping with an imaginary scenario such as capsized sailboat or a marooned space ship. Then the whole team has a 20 minute discussion and tries to reach consensus on the best ways to handle the emergency scenario. Then, the facilitator reveals the answers given by a survival or technical expert--and in 9 out of 10 cases, the team's solutions are support to each individual's solutions. This brings the team-building point powerfully home to each person in the team; decisions and problem solutions reached with a team-based consensus approach are usually better than decisions and solutions created by the manager or any individual team member acting alone. This is the first book that brings multiple consensus building simulations togetehr in one format and makes them all freelly reproducible.
